Lithgow Baptist Playtime
Carolyn Altman has been doing Playtime for 7 years, with no real success. Then, along with her husband, Ian (the Pastor) decided to run dinners at 5pm on a Sunday night, once a month, called Feast. Handwritten invitations by Carolyn ensure that 5-7 families come from the Playtime, of the 110 people that come each month, of which half of the people are from the community.
They are invited with the intention to hear a talk by Ian between the main meal (Baked dinner ) and dessert. Topics such as “Why do bad things happen to good people?” & “Is the world really going to end in 2012 & what will happen if it does?” contribute to some frank and open dialogue. This has created quite a stir in the church and Carolyn is so excited to be a part of Playtime!! It is now to a point that the non-Church Playtime Mums are inviting other Playtime Mums to come, telling them that it is a really great night! A concurrent Children’s Program is run while the adults are listening to the talk and taking part in the discussion.
